What happens when you put a person with no experience with mixing music and garage band? This happens.

Hope you guys like it. It took me forever for me to like it.

We are blinded by technology. We fall for its uniqueness, its sneakiness, its like we have always had it. Where will this be in ten years, its hard to imagine whats going to be the next big thing. In the article ” The New Journalism: Goosing the Grey Lady” i read how one of the biggest companies almost sunk with the economic recession. Soon enough for their luck, we have the world wide web. The New York Times not only was stabilized it was more interactive and more appealing to the public. They talk specifically about polls during the presidential campaign, how they made the public get involved. With the heat of the presidential campaign people wanted to get inform faster, to see what other people thought, to be updated by the second. So what better way than having it at your finger tips, not having to wait until the next day or sunday to get results. People all over want to share their thoughts and their opinion, and its pretty hard to do this if you are not the newspaper writer. Even though the newspaper it still been printed, showing that they overcame this economic problem it also shows what we are able to overcome. Today is the future, we are living everything the best era in history, where everything is possible.

This is a really short clip of my idea of time and space. There are millions of explanations on why time and space are not what they used to be. I try to illustrate one of the causes, which is teamwork. A group of people that put their minds together to achieve a certain goal faster and more efficient.

Now a days theres a big different between lost and stolen items. Lost items are those objects that you misplace and can’t find ever again, and stolen is if someone takes something from you, or knows that an item is yours and doesn’t return it. As i was reading the article about the “StolenSideKick” where a girl finds a sidekick,(a smartphone) and knows who the owner is. She refuses to return it with the lame excuse that “it’s too bad she lost it, and finders keeper.” This girl thought that that was the end, that no one, including the police would pay any attention to a phone case. The husband of the woman who lost the sidekick took the case to the next level, not because he wanted the girl to return the sidekick, but for moral and humane reasons. He started blogging about her, posting up pictures of her, even making a website about the girl. Thousands of people started reading and responding to these articles and updates. Journalist, lawyers and even police officers started to give him advice on how to handle the situation. By the end of the tenth day, the girl with the sidekick got arrested and had to return the sidekick. This proves that people can come together and move mountains, not in the classical way by walking and doing public hearings, but just from behind your computer at home. He got the attention of thousands by just writing in blogs and forums. He gave the people a story, a story worth reading and people responded. This does not only show the power of people but the power of technology in this new era. We don’t see it because we are living it, but technology is moving at a pace that its actually some what scary. Technology is moving so quick that we as humans do not know how far its going to take us and if we going to be able to stop it without harming us. At this very moment technology is the best thing that happened to us, but what’s next? sci-fi becomes real life? i guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Multimedia includes a whole range of different things, from painting to the internet and everything that has to do with software, hardware, music, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Something that really influenced me and it was the thing that introduced me to the world of design was Adobe Photoshop 7. While i was in a high school class i approached one of my classmates and saw him playing around with pictures and doing some cool effects, so i asked what was the name of the program and he told me. That was the beginning of a new life, i did not know what i was getting myself into but i loved it, i couldn’t stop using it, and ideas where coming right after the other, even though i spend hours and even days of frustration on how to cut a picture from its background, quitting never crossed my mind. Me and Photoshop clicked. It took me years to built a personal discipline on how to teach myself the program, i have read hundreds or maybe thousands of tutorials just about photoshop and i still not tired of reading and learning, after 6 or 7 years of using it i feel that i can do anything in it, but i know i am still missing some knowledge of the program. On the other hand  while learning photoshop i came across so many creative people and creative softwares. Software such as Illustrator, Flash, Indesign, DreamWeaver, etc. softwares that i have thought myself to use, softwares that are part of my life.

The power of Science and Technology

The power of Science and Technology

Our minds work in ways that sometimes we are unable to understand,  as humans we are able to adapt to big and small changes sometimes with out even thinking about it. Adaptation is the key of survival in this world. Humans have been adapting to different stages of cultures, technology, and ideologies through out the course of human history. Paola Antonelli in Design and the Elastic Mind defines elasticity as being “the ability to negotiate change and innovation without letting them interfere excessively with one’s own rhythms and goals.” Our minds are so elastic that as technology and science work together to bring us better, faster, and more advance technology are level of responsibility grows. Meaning that adaptation is not as easy as it sounds, so people are going to take change as a bad thing and would want to stay in the same stage, but others are going to accept it and love it and see it as human progress. Most of the people never stop and think about how fast technology is growing as Paola Antonelli mentioned that, people buy GPS devices like if we always had it before, again they do not stop and think three five years ago when almost no one had a GPS device, where printed maps where used instead. This is one of the many examples in real life where we blend in with are current level of technology and we become part of it. I would like to mentioned Richard Jones a professor of physics who works with nanotechnology, in his new book Soft Machines: Nanotechnology and Life he explains the role of nanotechnology in everyday life, what this technology is about and the future of it. I personally think that nano technology is the next big step for us because this technology is not only going to be a physical source but it will also help for medical purposes to go inside organisms, interact with cells and go where humans where not able to go before. This technology opens a whole new set of doors.
